Overview: We’re going to study and experiment with contrasting areas of colour obtained with sleying contrasting colors on opposite shafts and alternating wefts of contrasting thicknesses. This technique yields striking results even with just two shafts, and it can be used for both clothing and interior design.
Program: We will begin by examining a number of samples in order to understand how the colour areas alternate and how to get different patterns on a single threading. Students will draw their own warp profiles and plan a sampler, which they will then weave after dressing the loom.
