Overview: The semi-rigid propylene ribbon used in this course can be woven without recourse to a loom by simply wrapping it around a three-dimensional shape or using a small board as support. Polypropylene is a delicate, brittle and flammable material which can gather plenty of dust, and has therefore no practical applications, but it is an excellent material for research and creative experimentation.
Program: Designing and weaving simple three-dimensional objects, such as bags, baskets and containers, or flat mats with twisted protruding decorations. From such samples may later come ideas about fashionable ribbon inserts, decorative objects or small sculptures. See previous next
