Textile structures Messaggio per C. (Message for C.), 1985
67 x 76 cm
Linen and cardbord stripes
Two-block weave with supplementary wefts

“C” stands for Carla, the friend who showed me how to use a computer to help me get rid of my persistent typing mistakes. I had already used paper streamers as weaving material. Then I found some punched tape in the trash bin of a translator friend, who explained to me that it came from her old computer. All those rows of little holes made me think of other forms of communication: Jacquard weaving and Braille writing.
