Il Magnifico is in double weave and it was woven on a small Structo sample loom. Two warps run together for a while and then part, one spiralling, draping and strutting round the other, like the gown of some “magnificent”. It was 1968, and I was wrapped up in personal problems, but I could also feel the emotions of the crowds around me and the arrogance of those imposing their authority upon me. A small sign, an abstract form can sometimes be more real than a realistic depiction. This visual representation of authority helped me to escape its grip.
